Tips to Make the Most of Veterans Day Offers

Here are some reminders to keep in mind before heading out:

  • Bring Valid ID: Most businesses require valid identification to confirm your veteran or military status. This may include a VA card, a driver’s license with a veteran designation, a military ID, or discharge papers. Check in advance to see what’s accepted at each location.

If you’re currently on active duty, in the Guard or Reserve, or a military dependent, the simplest way to verify your veteran status is by presenting your official military ID card.
If you receive VA health benefits, you likely have a VA benefits photo ID card, which can serve as proof of veteran status at many businesses.
In 2017, the VA launched a free ID for honorably discharged veterans to help them show businesses they served, though it’s not an official federal ID. The program faces a major backlog.

Veterans who have access to their form DD-214 documents can use that as proof of service at many businesses. The VA’s new veteran ID card program is meant to eliminate the need to carry this form.
Some states offer the option of a veteran designation on driver’s licenses. Ask your state driver’s license office whether this is an option for you.
Many online businesses offer veteran discounts, often using programs like ID.me, which require a one-time registration and proof of veteran or other affiliations. Businesses then verify users through ID.me to apply discounts.
  • Check the Dates and Times: Not all deals are available all day or on the same day. Some businesses run promotions before or after Veterans Day, so confirm the timing to avoid missing out.
  • Ask Ahead: If you’re unsure whether a specific business participates, it’s always a good idea to ask. Many local businesses may also offer discounts not widely advertised, so don’t hesitate to inquire!

  • Army & Air Force Exchange Service — On November 11, Army & Air Force Exchange Service offers various deals, including 15% off food purchases at participating restaurants for MILITARY STAR cardmembers.

  • Biggby Coffee — Veterans and active-duty service members receive a free 16oz latte hot/iced/frozen with military ID on November 11.
  • Bill Gray’s — On November 11, veterans get a free World’s Greatest Cheeseburger, Regular Fries, and Soda.

  • Academy Sports + Outdoors — Active-duty service members and veterans get 10% off the entire purchase online or in-store from October 20 to November 11.
  • Amazon — Amazon offers a 20% discount on select items for Veterans Day, no military ID required.
  • Ashley Stewart — Get an additional 20% off your entire purchase from November 1 through 11. Cannot be combined with other offers.
  • Brides Across America — Brides Across America holds a wedding gown giveaway for military in partnership with bridal salons across the country in November. Qualifying brides register to attend the event at a participating bridal salon by completing the registration form. There is a $99 tax-deductible donation required when registering for the event.   • Colonial Williamsburg — Colonial Williamsburg is offering free admission November 8 through 11 to active-duty military, reservists, retirees, veterans, National Guardsmen and their immediate dependents.
  • Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum — Active-duty and retired military get free admission on November 11. The Museum will also extend free admission for up to three immediate family members.
  • Dave & Buster’s — Veterans get a free entree (up to $20) and a free $10 Power Card with a valid veterans ID card on November 11.
  • Diplomat Beach Resort — This November, The Diplomat Beach Resort offers all active, reserve, and retired service members and their families exclusive perks. Enjoy a special discounted stay and a welcome bag upon arrival, filled with local favorites like Fort Lauderdale Water Taxi tickets, in-house pastries, a branded water bottle, and discounts of 20% off Kids’ Club services and 25% off poolside cabanas. Offer valid for stays from November 1 to November 30.
  • Durham Museum — Veterans and their immediate family enjoy complimentary admission all weekend long in observance of Veterans Day. Veterans can also enjoy a free hot dog meal at the Soda Fountain both days.
  • Frontier Airlines — Active and retired military and their loved ones receive 50% off base fares through October 27 with promo code VETS while booking travel through December 18, 2024. Frontier is also inviting veterans and active-duty service members to share their stories about what being a veteran means to them.   • Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden — Veterans get complimentary general admission on November 9 from 9am to 4pm.
  • Hagley Museum and Library — Current military members, veterans, and their families get free admission on November 9.
  • Harley-Davidson Museum — From November 9 to 11, all active-duty military, veterans, and their families can enjoy complimentary admission. And on Veterans Day (November 11), veterans and active military personnel can enjoy one complimentary meal at MOTOR® Bar & Restaurant (up to $12.95 with the purchase of a beverage). 
  • Killington Resort — Active-duty, retired and honorably discharged members of the military receive a free lift ticket on November 11.
  • Knott’s Berry Farm — Active-duty military and veterans receive discounted admission for themselves and up to 5 guests during Military Tribute Days, November 4 through 21 and December 2 through 12. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Knott’s Berry Farm ticket booths.
  • La Quinta by Wyndham — Eligible military members enjoy 12% off Best Available Rate at participating La Quinta by Wyndham hotels across the U.S and Canada.   • National Parks — On November 11, get free admission to all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee.
  • National WWI Museum and Memorial — Admission is free for veterans and active-duty military personnel, November 8 through 11.
  • NEW Zoo & Adventure Park — Veterans, active-duty military personnel, and their immediate families get free zoo admission on November 11.
  • North Carolina Zoo — Military personnel, veterans, and their spouses get free admission November 9 through 15. This includes free admission for up to three additional accompanying guests.
